Problem to Address
Problem to Address
Latina's reportedly have the highest rates of negative mental health outcomes in comparison to their White peers, including greater rates of suicidal behaviors.
Various components contribute to this phenomenon including racial and peer challenges, and Latina psychology aims to provide a deeper understanding of these difficulties and outcomes.
Additionally, Latinas are attaining higher degrees at faster rates in comparison to their male counterparts, but we are still historically under-represented in academia for a lack of mentorship, presence, and opportunities.
Latina Psychology Goals
Provide mental health resources
By providing mental health resources, we aim to support Latinas accessibility to improve their psychological outcomes. We gather relevant support lines, therapy directories, guides, and more that align with our ideology.
Sharing opportunities
Through sharing opportunities to advance their careers, we aim to support the journey of Latinas in mental health and psychological career pathways. This includes opportunities related (but not limited to):
Research
Therapy
Mental Health Support
Advisory Positions
Fellowships
Scholarships
and more!
A directory of opportunities is actively being build and will be made available to provide easier awareness and accessibility to these opportunities.
Analyze Research
Through our research publication breakdowns, we aim to provide digestible and accessible versions of articles that will provide Latina's the opportunity to deepen their understanding of their psychological wellbeing.
