Dedicated to the continuous advancement of Latina research, psychology, and mental health.
As you will see in the publications page of this site, there are many researchers stating a lack of literature on Latinas in a variety of topics, which made their own research difficult to conclude accurately.
According to a 2021 Pew Research study, only 7% of Latinos have earned a graduate degree, however, Latina women are earning graduate degrees at a faster rate within recent years. 290,00 more Hispanic women than men hold a graduate degree. Hopefully, as more Latinas reach PhD's, we can see an increase in Latina-oriented research in the coming years.
Here at Latina Psychology, we hope to showcase organizations and people who have dedicated their time to providing a variety of resources in the hopes of improving the Latinx community. These include: organizations focused on providing professional development tools to Latinos, people who provide graduate application assistance for Latinas, and websites that provide mental health resources for Latinos.
Here is one of our current favorites! Latinx Therapy is an organization that provides a directory of Latinx therapists and mental health specialists. Click to find a Latinx therapist near you!
The primary goal of Latina Psychology is to highlight Latina-oriented research! Over on our Instagram page @LatinaPsychology , we strive to create digestible and comprehensible briefs on publications that can be made available to the general public who may not have the time nor resources to read these publications! Accessibility is important, especially to the community being researched! We will showcase them here on our site as well, but the instagram page receives our updates faster so go check it out!
